Or at least I think it is. First thing in the morning, as I pull away from a standstill, there is a loud squeal.

Or is this the noisy brakes that have not realeased completely? No noise at all when applying the brakes.
 
It could be the squeal of the 1150 owners trying to keep up ;)

Yes it is - as far as I can tell with helmet and ear plugs. But surely the drive belt isnt an old fashioned V belt?

And does that belt drive anything else?
 
Most likely it's the alternator belt. Very common on boxers.

The only thing the belt drives is the alternator.
