Finally some real numbers after MOTORRAD released the Top-Test of the 1300GS in comparison with the EU-5 R1250GS as I will post some numbers of the 2019 EU-4 R1250GS which where better as the 2019/20 models where stronger than the 2021/22/23 models...This time it is not about if the radar box up front and missing taillight are ugly but performance specs...First thing they liked the stiffer suspension and the even more agile handling as also the fact that the bike lowers by 30 mm if you get the option for it.Also the headlight that turns the night into day.The mechanical noise of the engine is louder while the exhaust itself is quieter and does not have the deep bass anymore.I dont like that but hopefully the aftermarket will take of that problem. The passenger seat is also smaller here the old one scored better. Also in tank range as the old one had 25 miles more range.Stupid here BMW should have made the tank 4 liters bigger instead of one liter smaller. As for weight the new bike is 3 kg lighter but not really because 3 kilos are exactly what 1 liter less gas and the lighter battery bring to the table ! The new bike stops up to 6 meters shorter shorter in the wet but here that is cheating too because the old bike had the Bridgestone A41 junk while the new one came with the new Metzeler Tourance Next 2 which are superb.AS for power the new bike makes 151 hp and 154 NM of torque while the old EU-4 1250 made 136 and 140 in comparison...But dyno numbers are one thing and gearing is another as the old bike is shorter geared...The EU-4 1250 was roll-on 60-180 km/h 9.9 seconds while the new one 10 seconds flat so exactly the same despite making 125 hp at the rear wheel at 122 mph vs 140 hp at 132 mph for the new one.12.5 vs 10.9 seconds Zero to 125 mph...While the EU-5 1250 needed half a second more roll-on and a full second more 0-125...So really the new bike is only significantly stronger above 100 mph due to the longer gearing is more agile but has less range ! AS for high speed stability with bags no word on that...!? If you want to save some weight as in 4 kilos the forged wheels are a must on the options list but I dont know if they are 2 kilos lighter than the cast wheels which would be great or 2 kilos lighter than the spoke wheels which would be not so great...Either way they do look good and are sturdier than the cast wheels ! AS for the competition the S1000XR made 179 hp on the same dybo did 8,5 Zero to 125 mph , 11.2 roll on 60-180 in top gear ,used 5.2 liters gas on 100 km and stopped another 2 meters shorter than the 1300GS.Multistrada V4 made 164 hp , 10,2 zero to 125mph , 10,6 roll-om and 6.3 liters.KTM 1290 Superadv 158 hp , 9,6 zero to 125 , 11,6 roll-on and 5.4 liters...232 kilos wet weight for the S1000XR,247 KTM,254 MSV4 and 255 1300GS / 251 with forged wheels...TORQUE 154 GS , 137 KTM , 126 Ducati...There you go ! The new bike moves the goal post with a stiffer more agile frame and more power above 100 mph but some questionable details like the taillight , radar box up front , less sound , linked foot brake and the smaller tank prevent me to get so excited to be done with the 1250 and open up a new chapter and newer look back like before...I hope BMW is listening / LOL

At least you could have said Thank You...LOL Looking at it the summary could be roll-on the new 1300GS is faster than the MSV4,1290KTM and S1000XR but is not faster than the EU-4 1250GS.Zero to 125mph it is almost as fast as the KTM or Ducati but the XR kills them all ! Fuel consumption is still the best but the tank range is shorter than the 1250 which is a step back...More performance if you shift and rev it out.Stiffer and more agile.Sports screen,Forged wheels.Storage compartment in tank. All good. But tank, sound and maybe pillom comfort still needs improvement as also a real taillight...IMHO
And a XR or M version with 1000rpm more on top,lower handlebar & 17" wheels...Please !

So as a repetition, of a repetition, of a repatition…….

boxerlust isn’t impressed with the r1300gs, as he knows better than BMW.

there you go folks, you don’t have to read all the shite posted above as I have succinctly summarised it for you all.

I love this bit......9.9 is 10 :ROFLMAO:

The EU-4 1250 was roll-on 60-180 km/h 9.9 seconds while the new one 10 seconds flat so exactly the same

More shite from a Chat bot............................

Cheers for that Boxer. Good, in-depth numbers. Im sure the New ADV version will iron out most issues. I felt exactly the same with the 2013 GS, In fact, It made me buy the Triumph tiger, until the ADV came out. So im certain BMW will be having my stash of money this time next year (y)

Onahi I hear you and hope BMW gets it right on the ADV even if I really did not want to go full fat again but with the small 19 liter tank you are forced to…24 liters would have been perfect ! By then they hopefully get rid of that stupid looking radar box and have if not a decent looking dual headlight at least a real taillight instead of the uglies hanging off the back and some aluminum panniers not smaller than the old ones without lighted insides…LOL And a M1300GS or R1300GS with more top end and 17” forged wheels would be spicy too as also a R1300S as good looking as the MG S01 and as practical as the R1100S of course with Telelever would made a lot of people salivate too! Merry Christmas !

It is strange how BMW have gone with both front and rear lights. The vast majority of the feedback i've seen, is negative. I cant see it changing ? From all sources, The new ADV version is going to be huge, in ya face Tonka sort of stuff. And I get your comment in going all lardy. But many also buy the ADV version because of that very fact.
I am looking forward to seeing the new ADV.
All the best

I'm looking forward to the R1300GS trade ins hitting the market when the usual suspects chop them in against the latest mega tractor.

I might be able to afford one of those......won't be buying new.

Sent with a Zen10

Onahi I also look forward if BMW gets it right with the new ADV and only the bigger tank adds to the weight & size ! I dont need the bulk & heft of a 30 L tank but 19 L is a non-starter & deal braker for me...A M or XR with 1000rpm more / 15 hp more I would even look more forward to...LOL To make it a little easier here one more time the most importatant numbers of the new R1300GS in comparison to the S1000XR , old 1250GS EU-4 as the EU-5 are 1 sec slower 0-200km/h and half a second slower 60-180 km/h top gear roll-on...Weight full tank 20 liters S1000XR 232 , KTM 1290 23 liters 247kg , 1300 GS 19 liters with forged wheels 251 kg , Ducati MS V4 22 liters 254 kg and last 1250GS 20 liters 258 kg...Zero to 125 mph XR 8,5 sec , KTM 9.6 sec , MS 10.2 sec ,1300GS 10.9 sec and 1250GS 12.5 sec (13.6 EU-5)
Roll on 60-180 km/h 1250GS 9.9 sec (10.5 EU-5) , 1300GS 10.0 sec , MS 10.6 sec ,XR 11,2 and KTM 11.6 sec . Fuel consumption L/100 km 1250GS 4.5 l / 277 miles theoretically LOL , 1300GS 4.7 l / 252 miles , S1000XR 5.2 l / 240 miles , KTM 5.4 l / 266 miles and MS 6.3 l / 218 mile range theoretically....KTM and Duc are electronically limited to 156 mph the 1250 does 136 mph the 1300 GS 140 mph and the S1000XR does 160 mph ! The 1300 GS will run at 158 mph the S1000XR at 166 mph into the limiter in top gear...If you find a slope/downgrade long enough...LOL The 1250GS is geared to 145 mph but does not have enough power to pull it.
Interesting that the 10% taller gearing of the 1300 vs 1250 GS does not equate in better fuel economy and equates the 15 added hp/nm or the other way around the 10% shorter gearing equals 15 added hp/nm....The reason I always put shorter reardrives on my boxers...! Last time I did it was on my 2016 R Nine T that got the GS reardrive and felt a little spunkier afterwards ! Anyways here you go and if the new GS still wobbles with the 6 liter smaller Vario bags at speed above 112 mph like the stickers says we have to find out ourselves...Merry Christmas !

And yes if the tank had been a gallon bigger instead of a liter smaller I would have ordered a black one with sports suspension & forged wheels despite the Harley taillight and lack of sound...The XR is still the sportiest bike in this segment but chain,8000 rpm plus and fork which is only better for eating still steers me towards the GS...Like Onahi said lets wait for the Tonka toy...LOL
