Finally some real numbers after MOTORRAD released the Top-Test of the 1300GS in comparison with the EU-5 R1250GS as I will post some numbers of the 2019 EU-4 R1250GS which where better as the 2019/20 models where stronger than the 2021/22/23 models...This time it is not about if the radar box up front and missing taillight are ugly but performance specs...First thing they liked the stiffer suspension and the even more agile handling as also the fact that the bike lowers by 30 mm if you get the option for it.Also the headlight that turns the night into day.The mechanical noise of the engine is louder while the exhaust itself is quieter and does not have the deep bass anymore.I dont like that but hopefully the aftermarket will take of that problem. The passenger seat is also smaller here the old one scored better. Also in tank range as the old one had 25 miles more range.Stupid here BMW should have made the tank 4 liters bigger instead of one liter smaller. As for weight the new bike is 3 kg lighter but not really because 3 kilos are exactly what 1 liter less gas and the lighter battery bring to the table ! The new bike stops up to 6 meters shorter shorter in the wet but here that is cheating too because the old bike had the Bridgestone A41 junk while the new one came with the new Metzeler Tourance Next 2 which are superb.AS for power the new bike makes 151 hp and 154 NM of torque while the old EU-4 1250 made 136 and 140 in comparison...But dyno numbers are one thing and gearing is another as the old bike is shorter geared...The EU-4 1250 was roll-on 60-180 km/h 9.9 seconds while the new one 10 seconds flat so exactly the same despite making 125 hp at the rear wheel at 122 mph vs 140 hp at 132 mph for the new one.12.5 vs 10.9 seconds Zero to 125 mph...While the EU-5 1250 needed half a second more roll-on and a full second more 0-125...So really the new bike is only significantly stronger above 100 mph due to the longer gearing is more agile but has less range ! AS for high speed stability with bags no word on that...!? If you want to save some weight as in 4 kilos the forged wheels are a must on the options list but I dont know if they are 2 kilos lighter than the cast wheels which would be great or 2 kilos lighter than the spoke wheels which would be not so great...Either way they do look good and are sturdier than the cast wheels ! AS for the competition the S1000XR made 179 hp on the same dybo did 8,5 Zero to 125 mph , 11.2 roll on 60-180 in top gear ,used 5.2 liters gas on 100 km and stopped another 2 meters shorter than the 1300GS.Multistrada V4 made 164 hp , 10,2 zero to 125mph , 10,6 roll-om and 6.3 liters.KTM 1290 Superadv 158 hp , 9,6 zero to 125 , 11,6 roll-on and 5.4 liters...232 kilos wet weight for the S1000XR,247 KTM,254 MSV4 and 255 1300GS / 251 with forged wheels...TORQUE 154 GS , 137 KTM , 126 Ducati...There you go ! The new bike moves the goal post with a stiffer more agile frame and more power above 100 mph but some questionable details like the taillight , radar box up front , less sound , linked foot brake and the smaller tank prevent me to get so excited to be done with the 1250 and open up a new chapter and newer look back like before...I hope BMW is listening / LOL
