Vario top box question

Ok, Ive checked around and cannot find an answer to my question.
Will a Vario top box from a 2022 model gs1250 fit on my 2019 1250gs?
Or will I need an adapter plate?

You’ll need an adaptor plate.

For the Vario top box you need a specific adaptor plate, not the one that comes on the bike as standard. I would imagine the actual vario box will fit both the water cooled 1200 & 1250, I'm not sure that the adaptor plates are the same for both bikes. I do know that the older air/oil cooled vario boxes and their matching adaptor plates do not fit the water cooled 1200 bikes, but it seems that the cycle parts, eg seats etc are interchangeable between the 1200 & 1250 water cooled bikes.

The adapter plate for the Vario top box fits both the 1200 and 1250 GS LC models. I bought my vario luggage when I had my 1200GS and the only things I had to do when I got my 1250 was to swap over the adapter platevand get the locks recoded to the new bike, but as above the vario top box won't fit either bike without the adapter plate, which are IIRC over £100 to buy
