Zumo 550 wont switch on or charge

Hi bit of advice please
Bought this unit and bike mount off a fellow gser a little while ago
fitted it, all was fine
Then on a trip through france it started coming up with a message
something like "this accessory not supported" so obviously ignored it
but then noticed it didn't seem to be charging and eventually it just ran out
of charge and died.
tried charging it with the mains adaptor no luck, took the battery out put it back
in no difference, up until this problem the battery had been holding charge well.
Could it be simply a battery failure or something more terminal?

How long did you leave the battery out, suggest at least an hour.

Have you tried charging out of the holder ie with a mini usb - could be the holder has gone duff.

Its quite common for the mounts pins to get corroded especially if power is always on. You may be lucky and a good clean up and spray with something like ACF50 but if not, you're looking at a new mount. I had the same issue as you and that was the problem with mine.

hi Yes tried it with usb and garmin mains charger and no luck

You could try a soft reset. Hold the +button top left hand and the power button until it boots up.

Yep very technical.. I can fix most things but I'm afraid there is nothing deader than a dead garmin.....

One option is 2mm hex key, remove the back and disconnect the battery. Then reconnect and it should do clean reset.
