But at least the standard toolkit was sufficient to refit the header in 5 minutes. Good old bus! :thumby:

Just a bit of campsite maintenance a couple of weeks ago in Corsica

The bike was running badly, surging and generally not responding properly to throttle,

So i checked and adjusted valve clearances, which were tight, but i didn't find the real reason
until a week later, one of the main jet holders, wasn't in tight, so the needle jet holder was bright brass where it had been rubbing against
the carb body, and that cylinder was running rich because the needle jet wasn't in the correct position.

ran properly after that!

Picked this up on Friday. Rough as guts but runs well.
Decisions decisions.

Doesn’t look too bad to me, would probably benefit from a good clean. If it runs well then just give it a full service and ride it.

Airhead

Not sure what to do with it. Never had one before, the brakes are shite, speedo goosed, and a lot of corrosion. I bought it with “project” in mind and a relaxed timeframe in which to finish it but been looking at some of Mikeboys work and Moorespeed offerings I’m tempted to go toward building something different. But fuck me, some of the stuff is eyewateringly expensive.

:D It's probably easier to learn to live with the brakes than improve them, and even a good speedo tends to be more of a kind of general guide, you know, watch the needle for a bit then take an average...

So don't worry to much, sounds like you got a good one! :D:D

A bit of advise,
If it runs ok,leave it alone, service it etc,etc
These motors seem to have a knack of running seemingly ok.
The problem is,once you open them up,they can start to get expensive.
Budget £2k + for a full rebuild.
That said
Get a quote to rebuild a 1000 cc jap engine:comfort

Welcome! Sounds normal.

I would try and get the front brake working better but the rear brake on these have never been a good un. Ride it for a while and mend it as it brakes ( it may proove to be better than you think at moment). One of my older bikes had some leaks and concerns which seemed to sort themselves out as I got nearer to the first 100 miles.
I think they look better with a bit of ware and tear. Learn that you need to increase your stopping distances and dont thrash it tooooo much.
Looks great to me

Harsh reality is when you suddenly riding an airhead on an Enfield soundtrack.

Something for the weekend, Sir?
