When are we going to cover which stove and which cooking set is best to use in such a large tent?
Ha ha you could have bought mine! Great tent and I've used one in Iceland...with my wife and loads of room to spare but......
You need some decent size FLAT real estate to pitch them, for one person it'll be freezing cold due to the sheer size of it and it weighs a ton.
If you're serious about coming to Iceland (with me) and you ask for advice, please don't completely disregard it.
You'll end up finding your GS is too heavy, you won't enjoy it and end up missing all the best bits and going by road, which has happened before
Which I clearly did but don’t let that stop your criticism.I suggested in post #16 that Udders ask your advice.
Oh well.
Tell me about it!Who'd have thought getting a tent could get so intense. Thank f@@@ the internet wasn't about 100+ years ago....explorers would never have gone anywhere

A stove has been selected for its compact design and seamless blending in with chosen tent.
Looks perfect.
No heater wanted thanks. A nice warm sleeping bag will do with an Exped Downmat. Shall I start a thread on sleeping bags next? . I am a needy twat after all. That’ll annoy the hierarchy.
How dare I have the audacity to ask fo advice on adventure bike forum!

'Twas ever thus: many years ago I remember reading a report on Artic explorers who preferred alloy collar studs because of the weight saving
This thread has been very useful to others too .
I’ve bought myself a minimalist tent as well .
Perfect for solo camping trips

Added bonus, if you get cold in the night you can leave the bike running and lay next to it to keep you warm
Why not go the whole way and take a spare engine to mount in a cradle and rev the fuck out of it all night as demonstrated by the unhinged Italians at the Mugello MotoGP round every year.
Tell me about it!
Advice was sought, and some great advice was given. After listening to that advice and taking into account various other factors, made a choice. I bought a tent from what is one of the worlds leading manufacturers. A compromise of size, weight and strength. The right one for ME and my family. 1 tent to cover all bases. Some on here clearly don’t agree with that choice but guess what....it’s not for them is it!
Deep down I know you’re regretting not going with the pop up fairy princess castle and with added unicorn features.
Are you on this years trip?
How do you know I haven’t got a fairy princess one?
No, not on this years trip. I want all this COVID shit out the way before I go. Any confusion on insurance, paperwork, documents etc will be sorted too. Plus I need to get my bike sorted and the rest of my kit from my parents garage. Not seen them for over a year cos they’re both over 80 now. I’m off to get some Sidi Crossfire 2 boots Saturday so I can get them broken in and get sized up for my extra large Klim Badlands suit. . Then go practice off road fully kitted up so I won’t hold everyone else up.
