So, was 'Sniffing' around at a recent auto jumble in Ross-on-Wye chatting with a mate when low and behold in the very next stall to his i spotted what i suspected was an Italian moped frame. Turns out it was a Gilera 50 touring moped.
Twas 'rusted to fuck' indeed, infact it was only a frame with the rear wheel attached, handle bars and forks were there, and 2 very rusty rear shocks. After a bit of bartering we set on a price and it came home with me (I felt sorry for it!).
So, after a good clean up i decided it needed to be saved, and set about chasing all the parts i need, namely;
Engine/gearbox
Tank
Seat
Front wheel
Air box
Carb
Coil
Rear mudguard
Loom
Speedo
Rear light
Headlight
etc, etc.....
As luck would have it a really nice chap i knew had an old 1971 Gilera 4V, an 'Import', but most of the stuff is interchangeable and importantly he had a spare engine, which turned out to be a 'Pedal' motor, result!
A couple of pics of 'where we where/where we are now' plus a (poor) pic of said donor 4v...
Let the fun begin!
