Hi all, my first GS 1200 2006 55K and have a slight problem with oil leaking from the balancer shaft cover. I have fitted a new O ring and 4 new bolts as the originals had rounded off but still leaking oil. When I removed the cover there was silicone around it which shouldn't have been there, I have ordered a new cover as well to try and fit that but what other options do I have?
Could the front engine cover be possibly porous as it is badly corroded and the O ring not sealing? Should I try fitting the new cover with my new O ring and new bolts and see if that fixes it, Or could there be too much oil in the bike and is weeping out gradually. Sorry for so many questions.
