I called RAC to cancel since the renewal was £300.

You can’t cancel on the website, so I spoke to an actual person.

By removing European cover (which is is useless anyway) the premium came down to £116, for Mrs Berin and I, any vehicle - not so bad.

However during the call it came up that our vehicles mostly have Class 1 business use on the policy, not just SDP. This is because I work from home but sometimes visit an office location, travel to the airport or train station, or visit a customer.

Mrs Berin does travel to the office, but occasionally has to visit another location, and SDP only covers commuting to one office location.

It then turns out that if your vehicle has Class 1, it’s not covered for breakdown, even if the vehicle is just being used for SDP.

Something else to be aware of, since I guess more people work from home now and may travel to different locations for work.

Funny how it used to be a breakdown service, now it's breakdown insurance !

What I don’t get is why it matters. What difference does it make if I breakdown on my way to an office or to the pub?
