Tyre pressure sensor / tyre valve

Was checking the front tyre pressure this morning with a short extension fitted. I use an extension so that It's easier to fit inflator nozzles.
I couldn't get the gauge to read so checked that the extension was tight - only to have it shear off the valve stem. Bugger.
I'm hoping I can separate the valve body from the sensor once the I've removed the tyre.
Anybody else had one shear?

If it's spoked wheels then the stem is part of the sensor, for alloy wheels its separate.

That's with the gen1 sensor upto about 2019 I believe.
