OK....had a lovely evening out on the F650st sidecar...heading home and then all power suddenly went !!:(

Could not remove key from ignition but even though it turned a tad, still no power. As I couldn't get the key

out, I was unable to remove seat etc to disconnect battery. RAC took me home:thumb2

Had a quick look today and key now removed and turns as normal. Still no power at all. Looked at the 20amp

main fuse and it is toasted !!! Fuse blown and yellow fuse body melted:eek:

I think it is the ignition lock wiring inerds that have disintegrated due to age so need to remove that from the barrel.

Does all of the top yoke etc etc have to be removed or is there a simpler route to take? I will of course be investigating

any other causes.

Not a bad 2hrs. Recovery driver was an old mate of mine !!

So, started to remove bits 'n' bobs from the bike to get at the ignition barrel/electrics...fecking 'ell BMW, why make it Sooooo hard ????

Anyways, removed blown fuse and cleaned up holder etc...then....dismantled the front end  bit by bit !

Finally got the cylinder out...and discovered a previous owner had been in there with sandpaper/soldering iron etc...fell to bits when I removed

it:blast

So will order a new barrel with the plug in electrics tomorrow...only about £140 :(

P.S. Bloke and his wife gave my Missus a lift home which was absolutely superb of them. I stayed for the RAC.....and it rained !!!:comfort
