The new online shop is finally up and running......It's my first attempt at producing a 'proper' online shop, and TBH I'm quite pleased with the result.

The back end is working and although you can register to buy, you don't have to and you can still order stuff.

I'll be adding the tosser discount code soon, but for now, it has all the lights on it at their normal prices, but what might be of interest is the full technical data sheets including measurements, CE ratings, IP ratings and so on.

I'll post again when the tosser discount code is worked out, but please take a look...criticisms and comments are welcome so I can improve the shop look, feel and usability :thumb2

Good man yerself. I have just bought another LR Disco and I note you sell service kits. Happy to put money the way of someone I know. I shall be sorting summat in another 6000 miles!! :thumb

Nice shop BTW.

In my quest to see where the f**k i'm going after 8pm these days, I'm still hunting for solutions to lighting add-ons, but i do like these little jobbies above. :aidan

Do you have any recommendations for discrete bracketry for the GS (non A) MY2012. I've seen meaty lighting bar that lives on Ebay and i quite like the look of the Misgel bracket, but is there anything you have for mounting?

I dont think i could bring myself to buy the plastic BMW mounts but my googling suggest that might be the only quick solution otherwise.

Any suggestions please?

Well I finally got around to taking a few photos of the install for these lights.

The housing is extemely solid aluminium with an excellent (I assume powder) coating. They have a real quality feel to them and to be honest much better than I was expecting for the price.
I think they look really great when mounted. Very neat quality accessory.

*snipped*

Overall 10/10 for an excellent set of LED lights that will help get you noticed.

Thanks very much for the review Robert......glad you like them :thumb2

We don't have anything at the moment- but we've been asked a lot of times and I certainly think there's a need for a decent, stainless steel and adjustable bar mounting bracket for a decent price- I spoke to our sheet metal guys today and I'm going in to see them next week to get some pricing on some ideas, which I'll definitely bang on here as soon as I get something more concrete :thumb2

Don't use the plastic mounts.....In my experience, they are not strong enough and BMW plastic is made out of Bavarian cheese :)

One possibility would be to use a Ram-B-108-A mount then bolt the stainless bracket to the plate, but it's by no means a very elegant solution :(

Ok, I'm on the hunt now......Just found these babies, but although they are lovely, they're more bloody expensive than even our full aluminium cast LEDs!!

I was with the MD of Durite today and we asked him...

... We've also had a chat with Durite tech people today ...
Thanks for the thread ... very tempting! Could you use your contacts, please, to ask Durite to standardise on a single method for quoting the light output of their lamps? On their information sheets they use both candela (useful) and lux (not useful unless you're also told how far away the target was).

Then, their info sheet for the 0-420-55 says it is a LED 'Spot Lamp', whereas you say "The beam pattern is ideal for a marker/flood light rather than a long distance spot beam". Are there two (or more) patterns available as with the Cree Hyperbrights?

... As soon as I hear they have the markings, I'll post it up here...

I'm looking forward to that post.

Thanks, Bob

I'm looking forward to that post.

Thanks, Bob

I'll certainly forward the request about light output to the technical manager there :thumb2

(I suspect they use the information that they are sent from the manufacturers, but I take your point.)

0-420-55 is made and sold primarily as a work lamp with the lens it comes with- it's the same unit as the spot version but that one has a different lens.

We will be getting the spot/beam version in the next week or so and I'll take pics to compare them in the shed (same exposure settings etc for a valid comparison between the two)

For now though, the Cree ones are DEFINITELY more of a flood/short range light than a spot/driving light.

Confirmed from Durite- the tech info on the lamps they publish is what they get from the manufacturers- setting up test facilities to accurately measure both candela and lux ratings would be rather expensive as lights form only a very small proportion of their business.

A more useful measurement is probably the comparison between halogen to LED equivalent as well with a 10w 3rd gen LED probably being the equivalent of a 100-110w Halogen bulb.
Obviously after that, beam patterns and reflector quality in the cut off areas is also important, and why a lot of the really cheap but bright LED lamps are not actually very good in use.

Why should GSs have all the fun :nenau

Pointed downwards a fair bit to try and remove and Dazzle factor from oncoming traffic :thumb2

Extremely pleased with the effects on the way home tonight.....I could see the reflections of the LEDs clearly in the paintwork on the back of cars, long before I could pick up the reflection of the dip beam lamp :thumb2

Yes, I know the bike needs a tidy up :blast

Would you be able to got hold of the 7 1/2" version of option 4 ?

Yes.

We have two on the shelf right now.

Retail is £271.90 + vat = £326.28 EACH.

Tosser price £220 +vat= £264.00 each, Free delivery in UK mainland.

I presume you've looked them up, but these, unlike the Hella version, have the ballasts internally so there are literally just two wires to connect up to the relay.

The relay, the wiring harness (already fused) all come with with the kit, so all you have to do is mount them and add a switch :thumb2

Durite switch

This is the neat little switch Fanum mentioned earlier in the thread.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertgalavan/8027327672/" title="Durite switch installation by Robert Galavan, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8180/8027327672_e60648e505_o.jpg" width="640" height="480" alt="Durite switch installation"></a>

Lots of places you could mount it as it is so small. I went for the screen frame.<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertgalavan/8027328367/" title="Durite switch installation by Robert Galavan, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8040/8027328367_6c910a0ce9_c.jpg" width="600" height="800" alt="Durite switch installation"></a>

THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT!! Cree 10w Hyperbright SPOT lamps have landed!!

Literally just got back from Durite with the very first sets released......we have them AS AN EXCLUSIVE for now

First quick pics....we haven't unwrapped them yet, will do that in a bit, but here we go, as they come

P1030843-L.jpg

DATA sheets and tech specs to follow, but these are:

10WATT generation 3 CREE superbright LEDs
Multi voltage (10-30V)
750 Lumens EACH (brighter than the average 100w Halogen bulb)
Colour temp 6000k (Bright white light)

Only .35A draw at 24 volts......IE YOU DO NOT NEED A RELAY, these will run from a feed directly from a sidelight!

We'd strongly recommend running them through a switch though, unless you run them from your MAIN BEAM.......These things are the equivalent brightness to a 100W Halogen spot light and therefore, you have the potential to severely dazzle cars or bikes coming towards you :blast

P1030844-L.jpg

They come with a pre-wired IP67 (completely dust and waterproof) connector in line and a flying lead which I haven't measured yet

Included is a stainless steel bracket so they can be mounted upwards or hanging downwards

They are square fronted, 50 mm by 50 mm (tiny)

They come in black or white :nenau as well

P1030842-L.jpg

I'll un-package some in a bit and get some more photos, but the first 3 sets have already been despatched to those who had pre-ordered.

SPECIAL TOSSER LAUNCH DEAL

As a launch deal ,we are doing these lamps at £160 posted to any mainland UK address (other areas may incur a few quid extra charge but we'll do that at cost)

ALSO included in the deal is a switch as already featured in our other lights thread

switch-M.jpg

Green LED for ON, red for....well, you guess :blast

NOT totally waterproof, but small and smart...

This is the neat little switch Fanum mentioned earlier in the thread.

Lots of places you could mount it as it is so small. I went for the screen frame.

I'll be getting these up on the JA4x4 website over the weekend, but for now, you can call us on 01206 255094 or email me....

Bill*at*ja4x4.co.uk

Paypal gift please, as there would otherwise be a charge for us :thumb2

More pics to come today :JB

Ok, here we go......We've been playing with them and they are fekking lovely!
(ok, I know I would say that, but really, they are )

P1030850-L.jpg

This is what comes in the box (no, not the money as well :blast) ...plus the other end of the flying lead which I forgot to get in the pic :blast

The bodies of the lights are solid aluminium and the lens is some form of hardened glass.....the Cree chip and LED run cooler and more efficiently than most others, which is why the current draw is so low.... .35 amp each

The casing feels satisfyingly cold and solid in your hand, but because it's such a small unit, it's not heavy

P1030849-L.jpg

Good quality Stainless steel bracket, the nuts and bolts are stainless as well and the puck that slides into (then screws in with one of the supplied allan bolts) the casting of the lamp is also solid ally- as is the other puck pictured, which also slides then bolts into the body so you can attach another light to the first

P1030856-XL.jpg

You could stack/pod these up in many ways......above is one of the 10w spots with one of the 10w fogs on top of it.....

To be honest, I wouldn't attach them like that, as being very different beams for very different purposes, I'd want to mount them seperately with their own brackets so that I could have one pointing down a bit for floodlighting, and the beam unit pointed into the distance.

Still, you could easily mount them in pairs or even blocks of 4 (still only ten cm square) or in any other combination if you wanted to

P1030861-L.jpg

In the above pic, the bracket is on one end, but obviously you could mount them horizontally with three brackets, or just one bracket at each end......the lamps have a mounting facet on each of the four flat sides :thumb2

So there we go......the brand new, literally off the pallet this morning, exclusive to UKGSer 10w Superbright SPOT lamps...£160 a pair inc delivery AND a switch :thumb2

You have an email :thumb2

And replied to Neil, thanks very much.

I may have managed to get them on the last delivery wagon, so it's possible they'll arrive tomorrow, but if not, definitely Monday, but they are on their way :beerjug:
