I’m on with servicing my 2012 twin cam GSA. Can the gearbox oil be overfilled or would excess just run out? I had a brain freeze on how much i’d put in so just topped her up?

I told you it was a numb arse?

Overfilled.

For the price of two new crush washers, a litre of gear oil and peace of mind, just re do it.

You were multi-tasking, happens to the best of us.

My 1150 gearbox will take more than 2L of oil - less if you put the drain plug back before you fill it.:blast

1 litre bottle should do the FD and GB. Halfords do there own brand 75-90 GL-5 for a tenner which is very handy.

Surely you mean a dumb-ass question, Roll Dog? A numb-arse question would be about seats. Anyway, turns out it was neither! :)

like others have said, do not fill the final drive. 220-200 ml . I used Castrol SAF-XO.
I think on the pre 2010 its 180ml.

In the gearbox use Castrol 75-90 gear oil.

I put 220 ml in final drive and the remainder in gearbox using 75/140
I’ve never need to add more to reach bottom of gearbox fill level hole.

But then I don’t do it with bike on side stand.
