Torque rating request

Hello all!

I ride a 96 1100gs. On each side all around the head gaskets seem damp.
I am assuming that the head bolts need to be tightened. I am unable to find the TORQUE rating for the Head Bolts so I wonder if anyone can help.

Hi Mike

The tightening torque for the valve covers is 8 Nm.
If you wish to know any other tightening torque go to the GS Misc link at GSclubUK homepage inside it you'll find a servicing guide for R1100/50GS and a sheet with all bike's tightening torques.

If head gasket area is 'damp'- probably time for new gaskets maybe a little more than tightening is needed.Head Gaskets are known to fail after prolonged high speed and high revs.
