At the last Saturday breakfast meet Lorraine welcomed Mark, a visiting biker who called by at the café.

He was not part of UKGSER but it turns out he is a pilot for the Air Ambulance service and offered an invite to us at his base at Tatenhill airport Staffordshire.

As he pointed out their service overlaps with the East Midlands I was happy to pursue the opportunity to take up Mark’s offer.

There is a café at the airport.

I will have to be guided by Mark’s availability for a weekend in May.

He has also suggested leading a ride out for us in the area details and options still to be discussed.

Can you let me know if there is interest in this.

I would like to see as many attendees as possible so timing for breakfast or lunch can be looked at.

Thanks
Gerry

Hiya.

Sorry I inadvertently misled you :D

I’m on here, but on the day was just passing, pulled up and thought blimey loads of bikes here.

So I’m looking at 27 May.

Broad outline, meet up at mine, say 0900 to leave at 0930 or so, hot drinks available, it’s near Ripley. Nice ride to Tatenhill via say Starbucks services Uttoxeter, rv with anyone coming from west or nw, and then head to unit.

There’s a nice cafe and outdoor seating, plus plenty of bike parking at the unit.

If the aircraft is there, go straight to the unit and have a mooch round, it may get called out any time.

If not hit the cafe and await the crew returning.

With the unit, we can have a look at aircraft if that’s your thing, chat to the paramedics etc.

The good thing about Tatenhill is that access is good so if you want to have a photo with bikes and aircraft etc we can do that.

More details nearer the time.

Hopefully get EMids, Peak District and WMids invited too. Maybe someone could forward these messages on those respective bits ??

Look forward to hosting you. :okay

Oh and thank you for popping over and making an interloper welcome :beerjug:

Thanks Mark.

I will post a link in Peak District and West Midlands sections.

Gerry

Mark (Guru Gora) will post all updates in this section and the invitation is open for all regions.

Numbers going will be helpful for the café.

Confirmed date for the visit is 27th May.

Hi Gerry could you count myself and Lorraine in please.

Pleasure to do it.

Indeed, I stopped to post an item sold on here :okay

Came across 2 crashes yesterday afternoon in and around North Yorkshire Moors
Thankfully riders were ok and ‘walking wounded’ laid on the bank side & bikes laid over on verge
I guess they ran wide in both cases & hit a bank or verge
Bikes scuffed up
Rusty riders out there and I know I am at present

Indeed, we go to too many.

The pre hospital care given by the docs and paramedics is truly amazing.

The focus has shifted from ‘scoop em up and get to hospital”

To pre hospital care. Blood etc etc.

A good charity to support for anyone.

Mark is on here - Guru Gura or something like that,( red background with crossed Khukris)

PS - I see he has responded. As you were!

As I’m on …

I’ve booked day off for 27 May do that’s confirmed date.

I’ve spoken to the charity and they are happy with it.

I’m not working at Tatenhill until then but will pop in the week before and speak to the crew.

I’ve also let the cafe know, I’ll let that chap have numbers nearer the time.

Perhaps if people could express an interest now, just so I know if it’s say 7 or 77, I can then can plan accordingly.

Thanks.

Should be able to get to this

Hi All

Yes all good from my end.

Back in UK now.

I’m thinking of an RV near Utoxxeter then move on.

I’ll firm up the RV but the unit and cafe are onside

How about an RV (purely to RV, I don’t like mincing about at Starbucks :)), at

Starbucks, Uttoxeter Bypass, Uttoxeter ST14 5AA.

It has good parking and good access from all areas.

If we met there at say 0930 to depart at 1030
, that would give us a 25 minute bimble to tatenhill to arrive by say 1100.

I’ll put together a small route.

At tatenhill we have dedicated parking, which is between the base and cafe, seperated by about 100 metres.

We can wing it from there, if the aircraft is about, see the guys first, if not, cafe first.

Hope that makes sense.

I’ll be going for a ride in the peaks afterwards if anyone would care to come. Roads only.

I wonder if the EMids, peak, and W Mids guys could pass on as they see fit.

Be handy to have an idea of numbers for the sausage man at the cafe.

I’m on duty tomorrow until Friday but will be available via PM on here.

All very welcome.

M

Thanks for the updates Mark.

The details of a short group ride from the Starbucks is clearly set out.

If anyone wishes to go to the airfield or café directly that remains an option but plan to be there for around the same time.

Numbers of those attending are helpful for the cafe.

Please post below if you plan to attend.

Sadly I am double booked for next weekend and will now be in London.

Good stuff.

If anyone wants to RV near mine let me know and we can ride to uttox together
