Touratech XT mount or not?

The standard plastic XT ‘clip in’ mount is more than adequate. Trust me.

There again, I have always only ever used Garmin’s /BMW’s standard mounts, relying entirely on the pound of butter in the fridge to ward off any problems.

Heard of a few mounts that have expelled the Zumo from the standard mount, from folk on Facebook group
You never know when tragedy may strike unexpectedly

I have the TT mount John - I like it for the same reason as Berin.

The XT mount itself is very secure. Garmin did modify the early mounts as the unit was a little loose in them.

I will buy one as not wholly convinced that one couldn’t accidentally depress the quick release button, without realising
Seems a bit slack, as with all my other previous Garmin mounts have/had the additional screw to ‘lock’ the release button

Then why pose your question?

Is the Garmin plastic mount sturdy enough or does the XT at danger of bouncing out ?

There again, I am greatly encouraged by the words ‘a few’.

“With no one to to love you, you are going nowhere”….. seems apt, when the GPS hops off.

The 660 mount had that problem.

Again, the XM mount seems quite sturdy and capable.

For £20, including shipping, there's this option, which increases the security a little, and reduces the chance of accidentally depressing the button:

The MotoPumps mount lock does it with a bit extra, but then is much more expensive. https://www.motopumps.com/shop/zumo-xt-security-lock

if you have the BMW Satnav doings fitted then consider the 3DAM adapter as demonstrated in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twnrQyYUXMY&t=603s

I've bought one and I'm very pleased with it. Neat, simple to fit and best of all, uses the BMW electrics with no tinkering. A lot cheaper and better looking (IMO) than the Touratech offering

I use one of these and done 5k without any issues, it locks on well and has never jumped off.

Had similar concerns when I first got mine, and that the silly rubber contacts cover was the good enough, but 5 months on no issues. Never any sign of it coming off and the wee cover seems to work just fine too. Still tempted by some edge protection though, and wouldn’t mind a simple latch cover to stop the chancers nicking it on fuel stations etc.
